Rodrigo Comprido Medeiros demonstrates how to escape a half guard and get into back mount on Greatmats Pro MMA 1x2 meter by 2 inch thick mats.
Hi, I'm Rodrigo Comprido. That's Marcelo Cazuza. We are here for the Greatmats Series. Now I'm going to show a way to escape from his half guard, going straight to his back.
I have my opponent's half guard, but my knee is already free. What I'm going to do is – I will push him outside with my knee and my hands I will push him outside and I will come to this position here. What I have to do now is make sure I cross his arm in front of his chest. So I can control his elbow and his wrist and start to close and push this space with my body.
At this point, I keep blocking him with my chest and I move my leg up a little bit. My hand comes from behind is neck and controls his wrist. What's very important when I control here is make sure I have tight control of my opponent. If I'm loose, he can turn into me. And that's not what I'm looking for. So I control – this hand will come on his tricep very low. No my knee has to slide and become in the same line as his head.
There's no way he ends up on top when I do that.
So I have his wrist control. I control his tricep. And I pass my knee. See how my knee is high here if I'm past his head line?
Now I make sure I'm really tight and I pull him over me. Once I pull him over me, I escape my hip under a little bit and I get my hook in. I score my four points on that one.
