Whether you are participating in strenuous weightlifting sessions or you just want to deliver a safe playground space for the kids, our 2x2 rubber floor mats will give you reliable performance.

24x24 In Rubber Mat Styles

When you want 24x24 inch rubber mats that are easy to install or that yield a nearly seamless look, we have multiple styles available.

Puzzle-Style Interlock

The easiest 2x2 rubber tiles to install are those with puzzle-style edges. Just pop the tabs on one tile edge into the slots on the adjacent tile, and you’ll have a secure floor in no time. Glue is not necessary with this format.

Hidden Interlock

Some of our 2x2 floor mats use tabs that interlock but are not visible in the final layout. These tabs slide together under the edges of the connected tiles. If using them in areas where they’ll be under a lot of stress, they need glue.

Straight Edge With No Interlock

Straight-edge tiles simply slide tightly against the adjacent tiles. These designs often need to be glued to the subfloor to avoid potential shifting.

Where to Use 2x2 Gym Floor Tiles

The most common locations where our customers install our 2x2 gym floor tiles include the following.

Gym

When installing our 2x2 rubber mats in a home gym or a commercial gymnasium, it’s important to consider the planned use case.

For general workouts with exercise machines or small weights, almost any thickness of rubber flooring will be adequate. For high-intensity workouts that involve large amounts of weight or for weightlifting with barbells, thicker rubber floors are a must to absorb the impact of the weight and protect the subfloor.

In an area where large free weights are in use, consider placing a thick rubber mat over the top of the 2x2 rubber flooring for extra protection.

Outdoor Playground

When children will be running – and potentially falling – at an outdoor playground, 2x2 rubber tile flooring is a smart choice. These tiles have traction to prevent slips, even when the weather is wet. They provide cushioning to protect against the occasional falls. Rubber is extremely durable and can withstand any kind of weather. You can add more tiles later to expand the coverage space whenever needed.

Equine Pavers

Equine paver tiles provide a pattern that resembles complex dog-bone pavers in an easy-to-install 2x2 rubber tile. They work for barn aisles and walkways for horses, creating a non-slip surface for the animals and their handlers.

At about 1-3/16 inches in thickness, our equine pavers will work in gymnasiums or other locations where you want a thick rubber floor, too.

They can support many kinds of workout machines as well as some free weights. They’re a great choice for home gyms and commercial workout centers.

How do you install interlocking rubber floor tiles on concrete?

To install interlocking rubber floor tiles on concrete, you can just lay them directly on the original floor. Start in the center of the room and work outward until you reach a wall. You then can cut the tile to fit the straight edge of the wall.

How do the 8 mm, 3/8, and 3/4 2x2 interlocking rubber gym floor tiles compare?

To compare different thicknesses of interlocking rubber gym floor tiles, consider the types of workouts that will be occurring. The 8 mm tiles are great for light workouts or the use of exercise machines, while the 3/8-inch tiles work nicely for more stringent workouts or heavier free weights. When using large free weights, the 3/4-inch tiles are the best choice to prevent damage to the subfloor and to cut down on noise. You can add 2-inch thick rubber mats over the top for maximum protection from heavy barbells if desired.

How do you cut rubber gym mats and tiles?

To cut rubber gym mats and tiles, mark the cut line with a pen. Hold a straight edge on the line and use a utility knife to make repeated shallow scores along the line. Laying the rubber mat or tile over the top of a 2-by-4 while scoring the material will allow the cut line to slowly pull apart, making it easier to finish the cut.
