Creating a Safe Dance Surface Anywhere

When dance troupes or teams are planning a series of performances, they never can be quite sure what type of flooring they will encounter from venue to venue.

Sometimes, a performance at a theatre will involve a hard tile or wood floor on the stage. This is why dance troupes often will carry their own portable reversible marley dance flooring from the studio to the performance venue.

For teams already carrying a roll of vinyl dance floor to the theater, bringing along this roll of dance floor underlayment is a smart idea. Teams then can install a padded surface over the extremely hard stage floor before adding the dance floor roll over the top.

Upon installation of the underlay, rather than risking injury from an extremely hard subfloor at the theatre, the dancers will transform the original hard floor, creating a far safer environment.

This underlay roll measures just 4.5 mm, so it’s easy to cut through the material to fit the available space. Similar to what often must occur in a layout of a PVC plastic roll of dance floor, installers may have to place the underlayment in side by side strips to cover the space for the performance.

To adhere this material to the subfloor safely, use vinyl tape around the perimeter and along each of the seams.

Each roll of cushioned elastic consists of a 90% PVC and 10% polyester material blend, giving it the desired level of cushioning.

Maintenance and Care

When deploying our dance floor underlayment, keep in mind that it does not have a design made for serving as the primary surface flooring in a space. When used properly, it will sit underneath the primary vinyl dance flooring roll.

This means customers should not allow people to walk across the material in hard shoes. In fact, customers should try to limit the amount of time this elastic floor receives direct exposure to foot traffic.

When using this underlayment, place it on the subfloor first and secure it with vinyl tape. Then immediately place the marley dance floor over the top.
