How To Install Vinyl Gym Floor Covers

Date Published: 02-14 - 2025

Installing Gym Guard is a two person job and takes 10-20 minutes for a typical basketball court.

Begin by rolling the full rack to a corner of the gym floor.

Lock it in place with the wheel breaks before loosening the yellow safety bar on each end of the roll.

Each person can grab a corner of the vinyl roll and walk it to the end of the court.

When one section is down, remove the extra from the rack. Unlock the wheels then move the rack 10 ft down and repeat the process.

Do this until the entire gym floor is covered.

Keep in mind, there should be 6-12 inches of overlap between each section of vinyl for complete coverage and to ensure dirt and trash does not get to the floor underneath.

To protect against liquid spills and prevent any form of tripping, use the gym tape to connect sections together.

Tape can be applied with a handheld dispenser or a walk-behind dispenser.

The walk-behind dispenser allows tape to be applied without bending or kneeling and greatly speeds the process.

The tape is also formulated to not leave a sticky residue when removed.

Use of other types of tape is not recommended as they can be more difficult to remove and can damage the cover.
