Unsaddling a Young Horse - Training Video #15
There is a special way to unsaddle a colt. First of all, move slow.
Back cinch comes off first. Its the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off. Be sure to let it down slowly without it banging against them.
Then take off the breast collar. Again, go in reverse order of the way you put it on.
Don't just let everything hang when you are taking it off. Put in on your saddle.
Then undo the girth. You don't have to sneak around, but don't move fast.
Remember to alway keep the lead rope in a safe position.
Grab the saddle horn and pad and pull the saddle off. Let the horse look at it and smell it.
