Simple Cleaning Techniques
Rubber matting is a great choice for those who need to be able to clean the floor quickly and completely.
Rubber does not soak up moisture, so you have time to clean up spills or dripped sweat.
Remove dry debris by sweeping or vacuuming the surface. You then can use a damp mop and a neutral pH floor cleaner. Allow it to dry over time in the air for the best results.
Easy Installation of 4x10 Rubber Flooring Rolls
You have a few options for installing this conveniently sized rubber mat. As a rubber workbench mat alternative, securing the rubber to the floor is key in preventing it from sliding around.
If you prefer a temporary installation, make use of double-sided carpet or vinyl tape to hold the roll in place.
You also have the option of gluing it to the subfloor if you want a permanent installation, but most customers choose the tape down method.
Rolled rubber flooring sometimes can be expensive to ship, so if you need multiple rolls, reach out to the Greatmats customer service team for some help. We can even ship it directly to your door, unlike some other rubber products.
Please note: The ends of this product are not factory cut square to a perfect length. It is industry standard to include a few extra inches. When installing end to end this mat will need to be squared first. On-site installation will require cutting which can be done using a sharp utility knife and a straight edge, if the multiple mats are to be installed end to end.
Please note: Like all rubber flooring, this product does have a noticeable rubber smell that may last for several days after installation. Some people are more sensitive to this odor than others. If you're installing the flooring in a room with limited air movement, you will probably notice the smell for a longer period of time after installation. A greater level of air movement over time will minimize the odor faster. You sometimes can minimize the odor by thoroughly cleaning the flooring with a mop and neutral pH floor cleaner immediately after installation.

Q: Your mats look great, although will they move while working out on tile flooring?
A: If the tile is a flat surface, then no, it will not slip; this rubber will grip the floor pretty well.
Q: If I am covering an entire gym floor with the 1/4 inch rolls, is it possible or does it make sense to glue them to a plywood floor in order to keep the seams from coming apart? The room size is 14' x 19'. Should I consider another product?
Q: I was wondering if I could use this type of rubber for my indoor kennels.
A: Yes. This would be suitable for kennels. Just be aware that it can trap moisture underneath the rubber if water/urine somehow gets under it. In which case, you'll want to pick up the mat, clean underneath it, and then lay it back down.
Q: For these 1/4 inch flooring mats that can be used in the garage, would it damage them to park on them with a car repeatedly over time?
A: When these mats are used in a garage space, the area is typically converted for alternate use, as driving on the rubber can cause damage and is not recommended.
Q: Is this mat vulcanized/waterproof?
A: This is not a vulcanized product. While water does not absorb into the rubber, some permeation can occur if it is soaked or pressure washed.
Q: Can you put this flooring over carpet?
A: No, this rolled rubber product must be installed over a hard, flat surface.

We employ a somewhat unconventional use of your product. In early 2011 the Montgomery Fencing Club was moving into a new space which asked us to protect the wood floor from stray points which they were concerned might gouge it. Whatever we used also had to be movable as we were moving into a shared, community space. We decided that most standard floor protective systems would not hold up under the stresses of our sport, so we began to explore more heavy-duty products. Complicating our efforts further are the dimensions of our playing surface: A fencing strip is 1-2m wide and 14m long. While there are some products specifically manufactured for our purpose, they are prohibitively expensive for our club. We found your rolled rubber products which offered a continuous 4 ft x 50 ft surface which is nearly perfect for our needs, particularly when combined with your very reasonable price and in-stock availability. We ordered a roll of 3/8 inch black, rubber flooring to test. It did not take us long to order three more. The strips have performed very well, and look good in the process. We used them for a tournament and received compliments from the visiting fencers. One even inquired about them as a possible portable strip for remote demonstrations. At 400 pounds per roll, I did not recommend it for that purpose, but I passed along your company's contact information. However, if someone has easy, level access to on-site storage, they are manageable as temporary flooring and work well for fencing strips. We worked with Paul Manzavrakos for the order. He was very helpful throughout the process, including follow-up questions after the sale. If we find ourselves in a position to expand the club, Greatmats will be the first place I look.

We are getting great use out of our mat. We’ve tried other mats from Amazon however we had to return them after we noticed dings and gouges. Your mat is quality made and very sturdy for home gym workouts especially over tile it doesn’t move.

The product was perfect. I did quite a bit of research and contacted other companies, searching for a solution for our cat shelter. We needed a product to line the tops of our cat cages -- one that was durable enough so that the cats paws wouldn't get trapped in the cages and of a material that could be easily cleaned. Further, since the tops of our cages are a favorite nap space for our cats and kittens, it needed to be comfortable. The 1/4'' rubber matting was ideal. And Joanne, was so helpful, aiding us in finding an affordable option for our not-for-profit organizations. GreatMats product and service was far and above what I expected. I finished my basement project using your rolled rubber flooring earlier this year and wanted to share some pictures of it. I used the 3/8" Black Rolled Rubber with 10% Red Brick Flec. This project consisted of 600 square feet of the 4 foot rolls. The ease of the installation allowed 3 of us to install an entire basement in 1 evening. The precision 4 foot cut rolls created a perfect fit from one roll to the next. The floor is fantastic for a my workout area as well as general. It is easy to clean and does not absorb water spills. I floored my basement, tool room, storage room, closet, and steps. Because my basement floor is not completely flat, after laying a thin dimpled sub floor, the rubber mat easily covered the small gradual changes in elevation.

I bought the 1/4 inch 4 by 10 feet rolls and love the product. They actually came 4 by 10 feet 6 inches. I put in my basement using only a little double sided tape here and there to install. Love it. Thank You.

Bought these mats to place by cat litter boxes. I have some elderly cats that don't always make it in the box. These mats are much better than using washable rugs and potty training pads. They do the job!

I purchased several 10’ rolls of 1/4” rubber flooring/mats and lined the floor of a utility body of a work vehicle as well as the bottoms of all the shelves and compartments. These mats prevent contents from sliding and making noise which is great when you drive a lot. I recommend doing the same in any of your work trucks too. Five stars!
