Easily Install Staylock Tiles
You can install Staylock floor tiles on any hard, flat surface, like concrete. In many cases, you can also install these tiles over low-pile carpet*, depending on its padding and thickness. If you have difficulty installing the tiles on carpet, adding a flat surface, like plywood, may help.
These tiles feature an active locking design that securely holds them together while in use. You just have to press the interlock tabs together by hand to connect them. Since the tiles measure 1x1 feet, they are easy to carry and install, and there are no adhesives required during the installation process.
Staylock tiles can be removed and reinstalled if needed.

How Many Borders do I Need?
For Island installations: Where the layout will have all four sides exposed to the room. In this case, the number of borders needed will be the length + width of the layout for each border type, and 4 corner pieces. Use half male and half female borders in this instance. Example 10x12 ft layout, 10+12 = 22 male borders, and 22 female borders, and 4 corners.
For Corner Installations: Where the layout will be pushed into one corner and will have 2 sides exposed to the room. In this case, the number of borders needed will be the length + width of the layout and one corner piece. Use all male borders in this instance. Example 10x12 ft layout, 10+12 = 22 borders, all male, and one corner.
For Inside corners, two border ramps will have to be manually cut at diagonal to fit. Use a sharp utility knife to cut this product or a table saw.

Color variation is possible from lot to lot, even within the same order.
*Installation over carpet can vary in results. Best results are obtained when installed over low pile carpet. Connecting the tiles together over carpet can be made easier by using plywood underneath as you are connecting the tiles together.
Maintenance
Recommended cleaning: Use vinegar and baking soda and hot water to clean the family of Staylock floor tiles. Do not use any cleaning solutions that contain bleach.

A: This tile does not require any underlayment; it can be installed directly onto any hard flat surface indoors. If additional cushioning is desired, a 3 mm rubber underlayment can be installed under the tiles.
Q: For a home gym, can you put your treadmill and other equipment on the StayLock Orange Peel floor? We want to floor our entire gym and want it to look finished. I have a few pieces of stationary equipment, a free weight space, and an aerobic space. Will this product work for all of those applications?
A: Yes, the StayLock flooring tile is the perfect flooring option for all of your activities and use types. This PVC floor tile is durable, similar to rubber, and will hold up to the exercise equipment and provide some cushion for aerobic activities.
Q: Will this work for basketball?
A: We would recommend our Court Tile for basketball; the court tiles are hard plastic, while the StayLock tile is softer plastic.
Q: I was looking for an option to protect the carpet in my home from dog accidents. Will these tiles be leak proof over existing cream low pile carpeting?
A: The PVC floor tiles will not provide a fully waterproof, tight surface between the tiles; water could get in between the tiles.
Q: How difficult is it to cut this product? I have a bay area, and I don't know whether we'll want to make all the cuts. Some of the pieces will be small. Also, to flush this up against a wall, do I have to cut off the loops?
A: With a power saw, these tiles are fairly easy to cut. They can also be cut using a sharp utility knife, which would require more effort.
For wall-to-wall installation, we recommend starting in a corner with the tab sides against the walls and working out. When you get to the opposite walls, you will likely need to cut the tiles to fit. In which case, you'd be cutting the loop sides.
Q: I want to install these orange peel tiles over carpeting in a home gym. Are these tiles suitable for free weights - no more than 50-pound dumbells?
A: These will be fine for that.
Q: I would like to know about the suitability and availability of home gym floor tiles that interlock and work over carpet for both cardio and also for a bike trainer and rowing machine on top. My preference is light gray or tan.
A: StayLock Tiles are your best option for both cardio workouts and fitness equipment use over carpet. We also offer them with an orange peel or bump top surface texture. Both are available in light gray. For tan, you'll want to go with the bump top, as there is a light brown option.
Q: Can I make an “island” to work out on that slides under the couch when not in use? I work out in my living space and would not want to have the mat showing at all times.
A: This is an easy option for creating a workout island. I would not leave the island fully assembled to store under furniture, and it likely will not slide easily. However, they are easy to disassemble into strips or single tiles, stack & store, and re-assemble.

I purchased the StayLock Orange Peel tiles for use in martial arts workouts in my living room /home gym. I wanted something that would hold up better than my interlocking foam tiles, which were ripped by dog claws and had gaps due to expansion. I think the StayLock tiles will hold up and I like the style.

I bought this to create an exercise area in this nook in my bedroom. I have low pile carpet (I think), and it was fairly easy to lay down the tiles and cut them to size. I plan to do pilates, play VR games, and maybe add an elliptical here.
